NEW YORK (PIX11) \u2013 New York City Mayor Eric Adams might consider dropping his reelection campaign in the mayoral race, according to reporting<\/a> from The New York Times.<\/p>\n

It comes after a Siena College poll<\/a> showed that if Adams and Republican candidate Curtis Sliwa were to drop out of the race, it would give former Gov. Andrew Cuomo a better chance against frontrunner Queens Assemblyman Zohran Mamdani. Mamdani is polling at 46%, having a 22-point advantage over Cuomo.<\/p>\n

Sliwa and Adams trail behind the two, at 15% and 9% respectively, according to the poll. If the election were to become a two-way race, it may be easier for Cuomo to close the gap.<\/p>\n

Adams said he\u2019s not leaving the race<\/a>, denying rumors last week that he would drop out if he was offered a job within the Trump administration.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere has been so much speculation about what I\u2019m doing, no matter what I\u2019ve stated over and over,\u201d Adams said during a news conference<\/a> outside Gracie Mansion. \u201cAndrew Cuomo is a snake and a liar. I am in this race, and I am the only one who can beat Mamdani.\u201d<\/p>\n

President Donald Trump has said he thinks two candidates should drop out<\/a> of the race for a better chance to beat Mamdani.<\/p>\n

Sliwa<\/a> has also said he doesn\u2019t plan to leave the race.<\/p>\n
