We can do it in a good, fun way,\u201d Bargatze told CNN in a recent interview. \u201cI want the night to just be fun and silly and keep it moving. Let\u2019s be exciting. And let\u2019s be entertainment for the people at home watching. That\u2019s what we are.\u201d\n    <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph-elevate inline-placeholder vossi-paragraph\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/cmfgb78jo00073b5zybt9ac9e@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">\n            Bargatze\u2019s nice-guy persona and family-friendly material has catapulted him to become last year\u2019s top-selling standup comedian in America. He said he plans to \u201ctry to stick to just what I do\u201d at the Emmys, which means, don\u2019t expect politics or celebrity roasts to take the spotlight.\n    <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph-elevate inline-placeholder vossi-paragraph\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/cmfgb78jo000g3b5z7zm8hyfe@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">\n            Bargatze \u2013 who met his wife when he was 21 working at an Applebee\u2019s \u2013 admits that his family isn\u2019t fully accustomed to the level of fame and success that he\u2019s achieved. But he is always mindful of his roots, which perhaps helps to explain his \u201cclean comedy\u201d brand.\n    <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph-elevate inline-placeholder vossi-paragraph\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/cmfgb78jo000h3b5zre6z09lb@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">\n            \u201cYou have a bunch of different comedians, and you have ones that push the envelopes and ones that don\u2019t. I\u2019m very close to my family. That\u2019s why (with) my standup material, I never wanted to embarrass my parents. I didn\u2019t want them to be like, \u2018Oh, I can\u2019t believe he\u2019s saying that,\u2019\u201d he added. \u201cI just was very conscious of that. When I write my material, I\u2019m writing it thinking of my parents in mind. And then you\u2019re not writing it for everybody \u2013 you\u2019re writing it for a very specific person.\u201d\n    <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph-elevate inline-placeholder vossi-paragraph\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/cmfgb78jo000j3b5zsnue4n6x@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">\n            All that aside, Bargatze maintained that nothing is off limits on Sunday night, save for overly cruel jokes.\n    <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph-elevate inline-placeholder vossi-paragraph\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/cmfgb78jo000k3b5z3kni0fv5@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">\n            \u201cI would not want to do something that\u2019s just inherently mean, and to really be mean to a person. That would break my heart if I found out anybody was really hurt by anything,\u201d he said.\n    <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph-elevate inline-placeholder vossi-paragraph\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/cmfgb78jo000l3b5z9ainpcqz@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">\n            When asked about one of the elephants in the room \u2013 whether he\u2019ll address Stephen Colbert\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2025\/07\/17\/media\/cbs-cancels-stephen-colbert\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">late-night cancellation by CBS<\/a>, which is the same network airing the Emmys telecast \u2013 Bargatze said it\u2019s fair game.\n    <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph-elevate inline-placeholder vossi-paragraph\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/cmfgb78jo000m3b5za4zy6c8y@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">\n            \u201cI don\u2019t know if we have jokes on it yet or not,\u201d he said. \u201cI mean, he\u2019s a funny dude, so if we can find a way to do it where I don\u2019t feel like it\u2019s mean\u2026 I don\u2019t like to be mean towards him or anyone else in the audience, so if I can do it, yeah\u2026 I think we\u2019ll say something. But it will be done in a fun, playful way.\u201d\n    <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph-elevate inline-placeholder vossi-paragraph\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/cmfgb78jo000p3b5zfcdz11ht@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">\n            With his nice-guy persona, however, Bargatze does have one trick up his sleeve for Sunday night. He believes he\u2019s finally figured out a way to keep Hollywood\u2019s acceptance speeches from running over their allotted time.\n    <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph-elevate inline-placeholder vossi-paragraph\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/cmfgb78jo000q3b5zb6usyxna@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">\n            Bargatze is making a $100,000 donation to the Boys and Girls Club of America, and kids from the organization will be in the room, he shared. But there\u2019s a catch: every Emmy winner gets 45 seconds to make their speech at the podium, but for every single second they run over their time limit, $1000 will be docked from Bargatze\u2019s charitable donation.\n    <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph-elevate inline-placeholder vossi-paragraph\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/cmfgb78jo000r3b5z1z7d2rrx@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">\n            \u201cIt\u2019s a show, you gotta get moving,\u201d Bargatze said. \u201cIt is very serious.
