A pair of Jackson County athletes announced their college athletics futures this week.<\/p>\n
Pisgah senior Campbell Barron announced her committment to play college basketball at Sewanee-University of the South in Sewanee, Tennessee while Wadkins announced that she has committed to play college softball at UAH.<\/p>\n
Barron is entering her fifth season as a varsity player at Pisgah, where she has helped the Eagles win two state championships. Barron is a two-time all-state selection and was named the Class 2A Girls Basketball Player of the Year after helping Pisgah win the 2024-25 state\u00a0title. She averaged 19.8 points, 6.0 rebounds, 1.6 assists and 2.0 steals this past season and was the Class 2A Girls Northeast Regional MVP, a Class 2A All-State Tournament team selection, Jackson County Co-Player of the Year and a Sand Mountain Super 7 selection.<\/p>\n
\u201cI am excited for the opportunity to continue my academic and athletic journey at Sewanee,\u201d Barron wrote for a social media post by the Huntsville-based AAU basketball program she played for, the AL Southern Starz.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Wadkins was named Class 5A all-state softball second-team all-state for the second consecutive season after helping Scottsboro win an area title, claim the top spot in the North Regional and advance to the Class 5A state tournament.\u00a0<\/p>\n
The Wildcats\u2019 first baseman posted a .450 batting average (59-for-131), a .510 on-base percentage and a 1.197 OPS this past season along with 10 doubles, seven home runs, 52 RBIs, 17 walks and 18 runs scored.<\/p>\n
