\t\t\t\tCook Children\u2019s Medical Center in Prosper opened its first neonatal intensive care unit (NICU), expanding its specialized services for newborns needing medical care.<\/p>\n

The NICU<\/a> will be the first located within a children\u2019s hospital in Prosper and neighboring cities, according to a news release.<\/p>\n

The details<\/strong><\/p>\n

Cook Children\u2019s officials unveiled the NICU facility Sept. 10, which is designated as a Level 1<\/a> facility for specialized pediatric care.<\/p>\n

The Prosper NICU features 11 rooms, a dedicated nutrition lab and bedside cameras for parents to check in if they are out of the hospital, according to the release.<\/p>\n

Additionally, patients can be seen via telehealth by physicians at the Level IV NICU in Cook Children\u2019s Fort Worth hospital or transferred if necessary for urgent medical situations.<\/p>\n

Kevin Greene, president of Cook Children\u2019s Medical Center in Prosper, said in the release the new NICU will allow families to seek medical care for their children without having to leave their community.<\/p>\n

“With each investment we make into our medical center and in our outpatient clinics, we are building a foundation for exceptional pediatric care close to home,\u201d Greene said.<\/p>\n
