{"id":221899,"date":"2025-09-12T21:43:11","date_gmt":"2025-09-12T21:43:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/221899\/"},"modified":"2025-09-12T21:43:11","modified_gmt":"2025-09-12T21:43:11","slug":"ram-cancels-plans-for-all-electric-pickup-truck","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/221899\/","title":{"rendered":"Ram cancels plans for all-electric pickup truck"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Stellantis&#8217; Ram 1500 Revolution battery-electric concept pickup truck is introduced during a keynote address by Stellantis CEO Carlos Tavaras during CES 2023 at the Venetian Resort Las Vegas on Jan. 5, 2023.<\/p>\n<p>Ethan Miller | Getty Images<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/quotes\/STLA\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Stellantis<\/a>&#8216; Ram brand is canceling plans to develop a full-size electric Ram 1500 pickup truck, citing slowing demand for electric vehicles.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;As demand for full-size battery electric trucks slows in North America, Stellantis is reassessing its product strategy and will discontinue development of a full-size BEV pickup,&#8221; a company spokesperson said Friday in a statement, using the industry acronym for battery electric vehicles.<\/p>\n<p>Stellantis had <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2024\/11\/19\/stellantis-ram-electric-pickup-trucks-ev.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">already delayed<\/a> plans twice <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2024\/12\/18\/stellantis-delays-electric-ram-pickup-truck.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">for the truck<\/a>, which was originally expected to go on sale by the end of 2024.<\/p>\n<p>Ram said Friday it would still plan to launch an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2023\/11\/07\/new-ram-pickup-ev-has-gas-powered-electric-generator.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">extended-range electric truck<\/a>, which is equipped with an electric generator and a gas engine. That truck is expected to come out next year.<\/p>\n<p>The company said it would rename that extended-range truck from<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2023\/11\/07\/new-ram-pickup-ev-has-gas-powered-electric-generator.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> &#8220;Ramcharger&#8221;<\/a> to the &#8220;Ram 1500 REV.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The change comes as Ram CEO Tim Kuniskis,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2024\/12\/09\/ex-dodge-ram-boss-tim-kuniskis-returning-to-stellantis-.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">who unretired<\/a>\u00a0from the automaker late last year, has launched an aggressive turnaround for the embattled brand.<\/p>\n<p>New Stellantis CEO\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2025\/06\/23\/stellantis-ceo-antonio-filosa.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Antonio Filosa<\/a> has been dialing back some of former CEO Carlos Tavares&#8217; initiatives and pledged in late July to make &#8220;the tough decisions needed to re-establish profitable growth and significantly improved results.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The auto industry overall has been dealing with\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2024\/03\/13\/ev-euphoria-is-dead-automakers-trumpet-consumer-choice-in-us.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">slower-than-expected<\/a>\u00a0adoption of electric vehicles.
