<\/p>\nThe larger-than-life creation has quickly become the centerpiece of this year\u2019s Homecoming celebrations.<\/p>\n
EVERMAN, Texas \u2014 A North Texas high school has taken school spirit to new heights \u2014 literally.<\/p>\n
This week, Everman High School debuted a massive two-story homecoming mum, designed and built by one of the school’s Career and Technical Education (CTE) teachers and their students.<\/p>\n
The larger-than-life creation was led by an electrical teacher in the CTE program and has quickly become the centerpiece of this year\u2019s Homecoming celebrations. The school says it’s a symbol of pride, craftsmanship, and school spirit throughout the week\u2019s festivities.<\/p>\n

For decades, high school students across the state have exchanged the oversized corsages \u2014 often featuring silk flowers, flowing ribbons, bells, charms and plush mascots \u2014 as a way to celebrate school pride.<\/p>\n
The treasured Texas tradition<\/a>\u00a0<\/a>dates back to the 1930s. Through the years, the mums keep getting bigger<\/a>, flashier and more expensive.
