JACKSONVILLE, Fla.<\/strong> \u2013 The Jacksonville Sheriff\u2019s Office released body camera video and the 911 call from an officer-involved shooting that killed a man on August 25.<\/p>\n

According to investigators, 37-year-old Cale Tyler Gilbert was at the Dutton Island Preserve when a couple spotted him firing a rifle into the water.<\/p>\n

When the man went to ask him to stop, JSO said Gilbert fired at the man\u2019s feet. The Sheriff\u2019s Office said the couple tried to leave when Gilbert asked for a drink. When they gave him one, the man tackled Gilbert, disarmed him, and threw the rifle in the water, according to JSO.<\/p>\n

JSO said they found 47 shell casings at the preserve.<\/p>\n

\u201cLet\u2019s go. We can leave the wagon. I\u2019m scared,\u201d a woman could be heard saying on the 911 call.<\/p>\n

As the couple got in their car and began to leave, JSO said Gilbert sideswiped their truck.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe just came back and rammed us,\u201d the woman said to dispatch.<\/p>\n

The release from JSO shows footage of Gilbert hitting a Jeep in an intersection before crashing into bushes.<\/p>\n

The crash occurred just after 6 p.m.<\/p>\n

JSO then showed four different angles of body-worn camera footage from the scene. Over the following hour and a half, officers can be heard telling Gilbert to exit the vehicles with his hands up.<\/p>\n

\u201cTyler, we are trying to help you,\u201d an officer can be heard saying on a PA system. \u201cWe can\u2019t do that if you stay inside the vehicle.\u201d<\/p>\n

Nearly an hour and a half later, the rain begins to come down as officers continue to try to negotiate. <\/p>\n

\u201cHey, Tyler, can you come out and hand me that blanket so I can dry myself off?\u201d an officer can be heard asking just before 7:30 p.m.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think he just nodded yes,\u201d another officer replied. <\/p>\n

\u201cYou\u2019d be a peach if you did,\u201d the officer said to Gilbert.<\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t care about that,\u201d Gilbert can be heard saying in response.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou don\u2019t care about that, but I care about you,\u201d the officer said to Gilbert.<\/p>\n

\u201cAny communication is good communication,\u201d an officer said.<\/p>\n

Throughout the interaction, officers ask each other about an alleged rifle case in Gilbert\u2019s lap. At around 7:34 p.m., an officer said, \u201cIt looks like it\u2019s open.\u201d An officer responds, \u201cYeah, he\u2019s got…\u201d before getting cut off by the start of gunfire.<\/p>\n

Because of the positioning of the officers, the body camera video does not capture the movements of Gilbert in the truck at the time of the shooting.<\/p>\n

Nine officers simultaneously fire several rounds toward Gilbert, killing him.<\/p>\n

No officers were injured in the incident.<\/p>\n

JSO said the State Attorney\u2019s Office will review the incident for any potential legal proceedings and that it will conduct an internal review to ensure policy compliance.<\/p>\n
