Mayor Karen Bass Friday appointed Patrice Lattimore to serve as the next City Clerk, taking over the position from Holly Wolcott, who retired in January following a 37-year career at City Hall.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe City Clerk plays a critical role within the city of Los Angeles, by ensuring that Angelenos have access to their municipal government while also holding the responsibility of administering fair and open elections,\u201d Bass said in a statement.<\/p>\n
The mayor added that she trusts Lattimore in leveraging her extensive experience as City Clerk ahead of upcoming elections and the Charter Reform Commission process underway.<\/p>\n
\u201cI am honored to be appointed by Mayor Bass as the next City Clerk, Lattimore said in a statement. \u201cWith elections in the coming years, and the City\u2019s Charter Reform Commission underway, I\u2019m excited to deliver the innovation and transparency that Angelenos deserve from their municipal government.\u201d<\/p>\n
Lattimore\u2019s appointment will be considered by the Government Operations Committee followed by a presentation to the full City Council for consideration.<\/p>\n
She serves as the chief management analyst for the City Clerk\u2019s office, where she has developed a legislative management system and increased Spanish language accessibility for all council and committee meetings. Lattimore received her bachelor\u2019s degree in psychology from the University of Southern California, and later earned her master\u2019s degree in industrial and organizational psychology from Los Angeles Pacific University.<\/p>\n
If approved, Lattimore will be replacing Interim City Clerk Petty Santos, who has been serving in that capacity since January.<\/p>\n
