Three felony theft suspects were taken into custody after a high-speed police chase that began in northwest Indiana ended near Chicago’s Chinatown neighborhood, authorities said.<\/p>\n
On Monday afternoon, a Lake County Sheriff’s Department officer spotted a car in unincorporated Gary that matched the description of a vehicle involved in a theft from a retail area, the sheriff’s department said in a news release. Officers pursued the vehicle, which fled onto Cline Avenue and the Indiana Toll Road before continuing onto the Illinois Skyway and the Dan Ryan Expressway, authorities said.<\/p>\n
Multiple people were seen throwing items out of the car during the chase, police stated. <\/p>\n
Near Chinatown, officers used “a precision immobilization technique” in an attempt to stop the vehicle safely, and an unknown amount of time later, the suspects exited the car, authorities said.<\/p>\n
Two men and one woman were taken into custody and transported to an area hospital for evaluation. No one involved sustained life-threatening injuries, police said.<\/p>\n
Illinois State Police were assisting with the investigation. <\/p>\n
