While we wait for their Friday the 13th television series \u201cCrystal Lake,\u201d Deadline reports<\/a> tonight that A24<\/strong> is also boarding the iconic Texas Chain Saw Massacre<\/strong> franchise!<\/p>\n

Deadline\u2019s report confirms a scoop previously broken by The Insneider<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The rights had been up for auction, with multiple interested parties around Hollywood, and the site\u2019s sources have indicated that A24 is close to winning film and television rights.<\/p>\n

Deadline also reports, \u201cFirst up would be a series from JT Mollner<\/strong>, Roy Lee<\/strong> and Glen Powell<\/strong>, though the latter will not star as we\u00a0previously told you.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cApparently, the deal hasn\u2019t closed yet, but A24 has pole position,\u201d Deadline makes sure to note in tonight\u2019s report. \u201cAnother source close to the action tells us that this is all premature, but it\u2019s clear that the genre label behind Hereditary\u00a0isn\u2019t letting this one go.\u201d<\/p>\n

The outlet also mentions that Roy Lee has expressed interest in making another Texas Chainsaw Massacre film for Netflix, which could still happen with A24 boarding the property.<\/p>\n

The rights to The Texas Chain Saw Massacre are represented by Verve, with other interested parties in recent months including Jordan Peele, Osgood Perkins, and Taylor Sheridan.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s now been three years since\u00a0Netflix\u00a0premiered\u00a0Texas Chainsaw Massacre, a \u201clegacy sequel\u201d to Tobe Hooper\u2019s original horror classic that arrived on February 18, 2022.<\/p>\n
