SAN ANTONIO \u2014 An inmate at the Bexar County Adult Detention Center died early Friday after suffering a medical emergency, according to officials.<\/p>\n
The sheriff\u2019s office said the incident happened shortly after 1:30 a.m. on Friday, when another inmate alerted staff that his cellmate appeared to be having a seizure. Deputies rushed to the cell and found the inmate, Ryan James Postoak, 34, unresponsive. They immediately began life-saving measures as medical staff responded.<\/p>\n
Despite efforts from jail medical personnel and first responders, Postoak was pronounced dead at 1:50 a.m. by San Antonio Fire Department medics.<\/p>\n
Postoak had been booked into the jail the previous day on charges of driving while intoxicated and collision involving damage to a vehicle. At the time of his death, he was housed in a unit designated for inmates undergoing detox treatment for withdrawal symptoms.<\/p>\n
