The article included a quote from Kirk. He said gun deaths were \u201cunfortunately\u201d a cost worth bearing to defend Second Amendment rights, and the post placed the word \u201cunfortunate\u201d over Kirk\u2019s image.<\/p>\n<p>The post was originally reported by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.chron.com\/politics\/article\/charlie-kirk-gun-deaths-shot-21041747.php\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">the Houston Chronicle.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>On Thursday, Fort Worth Mayor Mattie Parker posted on X calling for elected officials and community leaders to be \u201cheld to the highest standard.\u201d Parker\u2019s post seemed to call out Beck without formally mentioning the council member.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYesterday we saw the worst example of this by one of my fellow Council Members, essentially condoning violence because of someone\u2019s political views. It is very clear that the killing of Charlie Kirk was a political assassination, and there is no justification for evil,\u201d the post reads.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">When you take an oath of office, you have a responsibility to encourage civility, kindness, and decency. As elected officials and community leaders, we are held to the highest standard, and we owe it to the people we represent to always be above board. Yesterday we saw the worst\u2026 <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/2r5mvd63R3\">pic.twitter.com\/2r5mvd63R3<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Mayor Mattie Parker (@MayorMattie) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/MayorMattie\/status\/1966215499383017839?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">September 11, 2025<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Since 2021, Beck has been a member of the Fort Worth City Council.<\/p>\n<p>Conservative commentator\u00a0Charlie Kirk died after he was shot on Wednesday during an event at Utah Valley University.<\/p>\n<p>The event hosted by Turning Point at the Sorensen Center on campus was billed as the first stop on Kirk\u2019s \u201cAmerican Comeback Tour.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The event generated a polarizing campus reaction. An online petition calling for university administrators to bar Kirk from appearing received nearly 1,000 signatures. The university issued a statement last week citing First Amendment rights and affirming its \u201ccommitment to free speech, intellectual inquiry and constructive dialogue.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Last week, Kirk posted on X images of news clips showing his visit was sparking controversy.
