{"id":22319,"date":"2025-06-28T17:10:09","date_gmt":"2025-06-28T17:10:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/22319\/"},"modified":"2025-06-28T17:10:09","modified_gmt":"2025-06-28T17:10:09","slug":"robert-suarez-returns-jose-iglesias-in-lineup-san-diego-union-tribune","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/22319\/","title":{"rendered":"Robert Suarez returns, Jose Iglesias in lineup \u2013 San Diego Union-Tribune"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Padres will again have a full bullpen.<\/p>\n<p>Better than a full bullpen, actually.<\/p>\n<p>With right-hander <strong>Robert Suarez<\/strong> returning from his two-game suspension and the Padres not needing a fifth starter until the Philadelphia series, the Padres will have nine relievers in the bullpen for Saturday\u2019s 1:10 p.m. start on Padres.TV.<\/p>\n<p>The Padres (44-37, 3rd in NL West) used three relievers after<strong> Dylan Cease\u2019s<\/strong> exit after four innings on Friday, with <strong>Yuki Matsui<\/strong> (4 ER) and <strong>Sean Reynolds<\/strong> (0 ER) each covering a frame and <strong>David Morgan<\/strong> (0 ER) throwing two innings.<\/p>\n<p>Given Thursday\u2019s off-day, the Padres have six relievers who have been off at least two days in a row. Suarez, for instance, last pitched on Tuesday before starting a suspension for hitting <strong>Shohei Ohtani<\/strong> with a pitch.<\/p>\n<p>The Padres have not announced who will take <strong>Ryan Bergert\u2019s<\/strong> turn in the rotation in Philadelphia \u2014 or what day \u2014 but knuckleballer <strong>Matt Waldron\u2019<\/strong>s scheduled start with Triple-A El Paso on Thursday was rained out and he did not pitch in either end of Friday\u2019s doubleheader.<strong> Kyle Hart<\/strong> is scheduled to start Saturday, while the Chihuahuas current have TBA listed for Sunday.<\/p>\n<p>Shortstop <strong>Xander Bogaerts<\/strong> is in Saturday\u2019s lineup for a second day in a row following his scratch from Wednesday\u2019s game with a sore left shoulder. V\u00e1squez has a 4.14 ERA in eight starts this year away from Petco Park. This will be V\u00e1squez\u2019s first career appearance against the Reds and at Great American Ball Park.<\/p>\n<p>He also doesn\u2019t have any history with current Reds.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Reds LHP Andrew Abbott (7-1, 1.79 ERA)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>His 2.28 June ERA is up from a sparkling May (0.55 ERA) and he\u2019s been nearly as good at hitter-friendly Great American Ball Park (2.17 ERA) than he has been on the road (1.42 ERA).
