There are days we back off of him,” coach Brian Daboll said. “These two days here were important in terms of team reps, of going out there and doing the things he has to do to play at his position. I know he feels pretty good after [Thursday]. Again, that’s why we’ll see where he’s at today. Of course, you’d like him out here the whole time, but that’s part of his process relative to trying to get him back out of the field.”

Thomas missed the entire preseason recovering from surgery to repair a Lisfranc fracture suffered against the Bengals last October, just six games into the 2024 season. Charles Wenzelberg / New York Post

The Giants sorely missed Thomas in Week 1 against the Commanders. The offense managed just two field goals, an anemic 3.2 yards per rush and quarterback Russell Wilson was sacked twice and hit eight times. His replacement, James Hudson III, struggled along with the rest of the offensive line.

“Like anything, it was pretty obvious there are things to improve on,” offensive line coach Carmen Bricillo said. “We’ll get out there and we’ll do it. It’s a good opportunity against a really good front versus Dallas. There’s no crying over spilled milk.
