Skenes\u2019 career 1.97 ERA is the lowest ever for a pitcher through their first 52 starts in the Live Ball Era (since 1920).<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">Skenes also surpassed 200 strikeouts (203) for the first time in his career. In 178 innings, Skenes is 10-9 with a 0.92 WHIP and well on his way to winning his first Cy Young Award.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">Skenes has only allowed 67 runs in 53 starts. He lowered his career ERA to 1.94 following the game in Baltimore.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">He finished third in Cy Young voting last year after winning Rookie of the Year thanks to a 1.96 ERA and 170 strikeouts in 2024.<\/p>\n<p>Advertisement<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">He will likely make two to three more starts before the end of the season.
