The\u2026<\/p>\n<p>PHILADELPHIA (AP) \u2014 Break out the sad trombone at Oklahoma: The Pride of Oklahoma <a href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/a-different-tune-for-college-marching-bands-in-a-pandemic-d4af48cd8dfa9922d7e5888e284273be\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">marching band<\/a> has been benched.<\/p>\n<p>The marching band <a href=\"https:\/\/app.slack.com\/client\/E02KKKX3KQU\/D8W4ND74K\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">wrote on social media<\/a> that budget constraints forced it to stay home instead of traveling to Philadelphia for Saturday\u2019s game between No. 13 Oklahoma and Temple.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/joe_mussatto\/status\/1966894022804316418\" rel=\"nofollow\">Saint Joseph\u2019s pep band pinch-hit<\/a> for OU and led \u201c <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/c\/ThePrideofOklahoma\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Boomer Sooner<\/a> \u201d for the game at Lincoln Financial Field.<\/p>\n<p>The Pride of Oklahoma wrote the band would still travel to all Southeastern Conference road games this season. The full band will travel to Texas and the pep band will travel to South Carolina, Tennessee and Alabama. The social media post said it was believed to be the first time the band had stand-ins play for it at a football game.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ou.edu\/finearts\/music\/bands\/pride\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Pride of Oklahoma<\/a> has played at OU games for more than a century and includes members from over 70 different majors at the school.
