Here are Fort Worth\u2019s birding hot spots"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The fall migration season is underway, which gives birders a prime chance to spot a yellow-rumped warbler or painted bunting.<\/p>\n<p>Here are some natural areas in and around the Fort Worth area to go bird-watching this autumn:<\/p>\n<p>Eagle Mountain Park<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/eaglemountainlake.org\/eagle-mountain-park\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">400-acre park<\/a> houses a diverse collection of birds, animals and plants in prairie and timberland environments. The area has over 5 miles of hiking trails surrounded by wildlife with panoramic views of Eagle Mountain Lake.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Hours:<\/strong> Daily, from dawn until 30 minutes after sunset\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong>Address: <\/strong>11601 Morris Dido Newark Road, Fort Worth<\/p>\n<p>Cedar Hill State Park\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Bordering Joe Pool Lake, the <a href=\"https:\/\/tpwd.texas.gov\/state-parks\/cedar-hill\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">state park<\/a> has recorded sightings of some 200 species of birds. (Camilo Diaz | Fort Worth Report) <\/p>\n<p>Fort Worth Nature Center &amp; Refuge<\/p>\n<p>With more than 3,600 acres of forest, prairie and wetlands, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fwnaturecenter.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Fort Worth Nature Center &amp; Refuge<\/a> is home to popular sites for enjoying wildlife, including its many trails and bird blinds \u2014 camouflaged shelters for bird-watchers. The center also provides binoculars and guides for observers. Information about the trails can be found <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fwnaturecenter.org\/trails\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">here<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong>Hours:<\/strong> Daily, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Address: <\/strong>9601 Fossil Ridge Road, Fort Worth<\/p>\n<p>Arcadia Trail Park North<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fortworthtexas.gov\/departments\/parks\/parks-and-trails\/arcadia-trail-park-north\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">park<\/a>, which serves as a mitigation site to preserve its ecological makeup, is known for its geological features, accessibility to trails and neighboring open spaces, and the many creatures that have made it their home. Consisting of prairie and wooded areas, bird-watchers have reported seeing cardinals, hawks, wrens, bluebirds and blue jays.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Hours: <\/strong>Daily, 5 a.m. to 11:30 p.m.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Address: <\/strong>8744 Arcadia Park Drive, Fort Worth<\/p>\n<p>Cement Creek Reservoir<\/p>\n<p>Waterfowl, shorebirds, and famously, least terns, largely inhabit this far north Fort Worth <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fishangler.com\/fishing-waters\/us\/texas\/cement-creek-reservoir\/7186944\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">reservoir<\/a>. The lake is also a hot spot for fishing and miles of surrounding grassland.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong>Hours:<\/strong> Daily, from dawn until dusk<\/p>\n<p><strong>Address: <\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.birdwatchingdaily.com\/hotspots\/75-cement-creek-reservoir-fort-worth-texas\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Cement Creek Reservoir<\/a>, Fort Worth<\/p>\n<p>Marine Creek Lake at Tarrant County College Northwest Campus\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tccd.edu\/locations\/northwest-campus\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">area<\/a> is a favorite among birders due to its recreational accessibility to the far north Tarrant lake. In addition to students, the public is welcome to stroll along the banks of the lake and observe the herons, ducks and flocks of horned lark and thick-billed longspur.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Hours: <\/strong>Open 24 hours<\/p>\n<p><strong>Address: <\/strong>2700 NW Loop 820, Fort Worth<\/p>\n<p>Mallard Cove Park<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.fortworthtexas.gov\/departments\/parks\/parks-and-trails\/mallard-cove-park\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Mallard Cove Park<\/a> consists of over 100 acres of open space inhabited by several birds including egrets, bluebirds, herons, woodpeckers and hawks. Much like the name implies, the park is also home to a variety of ducks, including the gadwall, American wigeon and the blue-winged teal.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Hours: <\/strong>Daily, from dawn until dusk<\/p>\n<p><strong>Address:<\/strong> 375 Shadow Grass Ave., Fort Worth<\/p>\n<p>Oakland Lake Park<\/p>\n<p>A variety of waterfowl and ducks make up most of the bird species observed at this far east Fort Worth <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fortworthtexas.gov\/departments\/parks\/parks-and-trails\/oakland-lake-park\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">park<\/a>.
