The race for New York City mayor is over. <\/p>\n
At least that\u2019s how President Donald Trump made it sound, predicting that democratic socialist Assemblyman Zohran Mamdani will win the battle for City Hall, the New York Post reported. <\/a><\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019m not looking at the polls too carefully, but it would look like he\u2019s going to win,\u201d Trump said during an appearance on \u201cFox and Friends. \u201cAnd that\u2019s a rebellion.\u201d<\/p>\n The president said, \u201cIt\u2019s also a rebellion against bad candidates, OK? It\u2019s a rebellion. They\u2019re tired of it.\u201d<\/p>\n Trump called it \u201camazing\u201d that a socialist candidate like Mamdani is looking to be mayor of New York City, which is Trump\u2019s hometown.<\/p>\n \u201cI call him my little Communist. He\u2019s my little Communist mayor,\u201d said Trump, who hails from Queens. \u201cBut, you know, he has to come to Washington for money, a lot of money.\u201d<\/p>\n Trump said that while Mamdani could still be beaten in a one-on-one battle, the current \u201cbad\u201d field of candidates isn\u2019t leaving voters with much choice. <\/p>\n Mayor Eric Adams and former Gov. Andrew Cuomo are running on independent party lines, while Guardian Angels founder Curtis Sliwa is the GOP candidate. <\/p>\n Mamdani is the Democratic Party nominee after beating Cuomo in a party primary earlier this year.<\/p>\n Trump had reportedly been trying to get Adams out of the race by offering the mayor a job in the administration, including ambassador to Saudi Arabia. <\/p>\n The president said that Cuomo, who was elected governor three times and also served as state attorney general, appeared to be the strongest candidate against Mamdani. <\/p>\n \u201cHe seems to be leading by a little bit, but he\u2019s still way behind,\u201d Trump said. \u201cIt almost looks like even one candidate at this point, is not going to work.\u201d<\/p>\n The election is Nov. 4. <\/p>\n If you purchase a product or register for an account through a link on our site, we may receive compensation.
