The city\u2019s Ethics Review Board on Monday will hear a complaint that accuses Mayor Ron Nirenberg of violating city rules about reporting pricy gifts and how officials are allowed to use city resources, according to the San Antonio Report<\/a>. <\/p>\n

The city tapped local attorney\u00a0Nadeen Abou-Hossa, who\u2019s handled other recent ethics complaints against city officials, to review the complaint alongside members of the Ethics Review Board, the news outlet reports.<\/p>\n

After looking into the matter, the group determined that the full panel should review the complaint, according to the San Antonio Report.<\/p>\n

The 63-page complaint accuses Nirenberg of failing to report an autographed basketball jersey San Antonio Spur Victor Wembanyama gifted him in January. Jerseys signed by the NBA star regularly sell for more than $1,000, and city officials are expected to report gifts of $100 or more via financial disclosure forms.<\/p>\n

Further, the complaint alleges that a Facebook page operated by Nirenberg\u2019s campaign shared videos and photos taken inside city facilities that are off limits to the public and also posted images that were shot using public funds. <\/p>\n

Nirenberg was unavailable Friday for comment on the complaint.<\/p>\n

Last summer, the Ethics Review Board penalized both District 1 Councilwoman Sukh Kaur and District 10 Councilman Marc Whyte<\/a> for violating city ethics rules during recent reelection campaigns. <\/p>\n

The Ethics Review Board determined that Whyte ran afoul of a rule barring officials for using city facilities, personnel, equipment or time for private purposes. The body imposed a $2,500 fine on Whyte, issued a letter of reprimand and ordered him to take ethics training.<\/p>\n

The board determined that Kaur violated the same city rule but only required her to undergo ethics training.<\/p>\n
