In my many years at Cheap Thrills, they are the only artist I know who have sold all their consignment CD copies [with almost no marketing to push them] and come back to drop off more.”

Must-Listen Track: “ROSEJAM”

Courtesy of Skylar Tnag

Skylar Tang

Recommended by: Chris Cortez | Director of Operations & Production KCSM-FM | San Mateo

“As jazz continues to expand with contemporary musical influences, few modern players have been able to successfully bridge the divide between straight-ahead jazz fans and modern jazz fans. However, 19-year-old trumpet player and composer Skylar Tang (@skylartang_) defies the trend, bringing a youthful sensibility and freshness to the scene while honoring the past. She’s a complete artist with a command of her instrument, drawing from her deep knowledge of the tradition [and] effortlessly incorporating modern musical influences into her compositions. As a musician on the cusp of breaking out, she stands out above the pack as an artist who appeals to a multigenerational audience.”

PARTNER CONTENT

Guide to Aging Well 2025

Joven Golden Hour Tour With Bebemos & Happy Half Hour

Must-Listen Track: “Kaleidoscope” (Not on Spotify; Tune in on YouTube)

Listen to our Ultimate California Mixtape below featuring each artist Some of the most famous musicians on the…

[5134
1444,5229,9971,1582,276,3553,975,3549,7264,1072,67,586,132,5230,68,2969
0":"post-226520","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","5":"has-post-thumbnail","7":"category-san-diego","8":"tag-1444","9":"tag-america","10":"tag-arts-culture","11":"tag-ca","12":"tag-california","13":"tag-feature","14":"tag-music","15":"tag-san-diego","16":"tag-sandiego","17":"tag-things-to-do","18":"tag-united-states","19":"tag-united-states-of-america","20":"tag-unitedstates","21":"tag-unitedstatesofamerica","22":"tag-us","23":"tag-usa
["GET
