NEW YORK (WABC) — Election Day is getting closer, and several candidates for New York City mayor are moving with a sense of urgency.<\/p>\n
Mayor Eric Adams, Republican Candidate Curtis Sliwa and former Governor Andrew Cuomo all took action to win over voters on Sunday. Front-runner Zohran Mamdani had no scheduled events this weekend.<\/p>\n
Mayor Adams spoke at a health and wellness event for the Indian community in Queens Sunday morning. But how is his own pulse doing in the race?<\/p>\n
“The way I am being covered is just biased and biased reporting. I must stay focused,” said Adams.<\/p>\n
Before the weekend, the mayor said he would conduct his own poll to determine if the best prescription is to leave the race and become a one-term mayor.<\/p>\n
“I am at peace with whatever the people of this city determine,” Adams said.<\/p>\n
Former Governor Andrew Cuomo, also running as an independent, was in church on Sunday morning<\/p>\n
“The city is in trouble. Since COVID, 1.5 million people have left New York, and part of it is that it’s simply too expensive to live here,” Cuomo said.<\/p>\n
Critics would argue the exodus out of New York happened under Cuomo’s watch when he was Governor.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile in Brooklyn, Republican candidate Curtis Sliwa opened a new Brooklyn office as he fights to narrow the gap in the race.<\/p>\n
“It’s crime and public safety. They associate me with that. Affordability, cost of living is very high. Everything can’t be free and everything shouldn’t be to the advantage of the billionaires. I think I represent that because I’m a populist and a blue collar working class candidate,” said Sliwa.<\/p>\n
As for the frontrunner, Democratic socialist Zorhan Mamdani did not have any scheduled events this weekend.<\/p>\n
