{"id":227294,"date":"2025-09-14T23:18:19","date_gmt":"2025-09-14T23:18:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/227294\/"},"modified":"2025-09-14T23:18:19","modified_gmt":"2025-09-14T23:18:19","slug":"stage-2-water-shortage-in-effect-for-west-maui","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/227294\/","title":{"rendered":"\u2018Stage 2\u2019 water shortage in effect for West Maui"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Maui County has declared a \u201cstage 2\u201d water shortage for West Maui, requiring an end to all nonessential water for commercial and industrial uses and limiting irrigation to no more than one day a week.<\/p>\n<p>County officials said in a news release that a stage 2 water shortage is triggered when the Director of Water Supply projects anticipates water demand will exceed the available water supply by 16% to 30%.<\/p>\n<p>Honokohau Stream flow is low, said county officials, while the inflow to Mahinahina Water Treatment Facility is zero. Additionally, the U.S. drought monitor forecasts \u201cD-2\u201d severe drought conditions will continue, officials said.<\/p>\n<p>All of these factors, officials said, support the decision to upgrade to a stage 2 water shortage for West Maui.<\/p>\n<p>According to the county release, the following water use restrictions apply to West Maui water consumers:<\/p>\n<p>&gt;&gt; All nonessential water use for commercial and industrial use should cease.<\/p>\n<p>                        <strong>Don&#8217;t miss out on what&#8217;s happening!<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"email-form-blurb m-0\">Stay in touch with breaking news, as it happens, conveniently in your email inbox.
