Thank you, Sal Saperstein! Freshman series \u201cThe Studio<\/a>\u201d is the top comedy at the Emmys, bringing its awards total to 13. <\/p>\n

Last year\u2019s winner, \u201cHacks<\/a>,\u201d and previous winner \u201cThe Bear<\/a>\u201d were also in the running for the comedy series award, along with \u201cAbbott Elementary<\/a>,\u201d \u201cNobody Wants This<\/a>,\u201d \u201cOnly Murders in the Building<\/a>,\u201d \u201cShrinking<\/a>\u201d and \u201cWhat We Do in the Shadows<\/a>.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Studio\u201d also became the new record-holder for most Emmys won by a comedy series in a single year. Last year\u2019s haul from \u201cThe Bear\u201d was the previous record-high of 11 wins.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s getting embarrassing,\u201d Rogen said of his numerous speeches Sunday evening. He went four for four on his nominations for the evening. <\/p>\n

The Apple TV+ comedy series that pokes fun at Hollywood was quickly acclaimed by critics and viewers alike when it debuted earlier this year. It was created by Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg (\u201cSuperbad<\/a>,\u201d \u201cPineapple Express<\/a>,\u201d et al.) along with Peter Huyck, Alex Gregory and Frida Perez, and directed throughout by Rogen and Goldberg. <\/p>\n

The series also stars Rogen alongside an ensemble cast of bumbling movie studio executives played by Catherine O\u2019Hara, Ike Barinholtz, Chase Sui Wonders, Kathryn Hahn and Bryan Cranston. There are also several cameos from real-life movie stars and Hollywood players, including Dave Franco, Zo\u00eb Kravitz, Anthony Mackie, Ron Howard<\/a> and Martin Scorsese<\/a> (and each of them earned Emmy nods for their performances). <\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m going to do my best attempt at sincerity here,\u201d Rogen said in his acceptance speech. \u201cIf you watched our show, if you appreciated our show, if you voted for our show, especially, thank you very much. I\u2019m legitimately embarrassed by how happy this makes me, and to be standing up here with all these people, these are the best people I know, and to have them spend their days with me, working with me is truly like one of the great honors of my life.\u201d<\/p>\n

Rogen also gave a hearty shoutout to studio executives in a nod to his character\u2019s desperate attempt to be thanked in an awards show acceptance speech.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Studio\u201d led the pack at the Creative Arts Emmy Awards, which were held earlier this month and honor the artistic and technical achievements as well as some performance categories. The series picked up nine awards then, including for Cranston\u2019s guest performance, production design, costuming and cinematography. <\/p>\n

Rogen and Goldberg told The Times<\/a>, when they nabbed a record-setting 23 Emmy nominations this summer, the awards attention was unexpected. <\/p>\n

\u201cThere\u2019s a real novelty to it and it\u2019s incredibly flattering in a way that we are not used to being flattered,\u201d Rogen said.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Thank you, Sal Saperstein!
