Still, there were several upsets and surprises, including the nail-biting Outstanding Drama Series victory for HBO Max\u2019s <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/tag\/the-pitt\/\" id=\"auto-tag_the-pitt\" data-tag=\"the-pitt\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The Pitt<\/a> <\/strong>in the final minutes of Sunday\u2019s telecast.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tApple TV+\u2019s Severance was the most nominated program this year with 27 noms versus 13 for The Pitt, giving it the edge in the top drama race. But the medical drama, done on a modest budget \u2014 fraction of the cost of the high-concept Severance \u2014 had momentum, and last weekend <a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/2025\/09\/the-pitt-the-studio-adolescence-best-series-emmy-casting-win-1236510552\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">landed the Casting for a Drama Series Emmy<\/a> alongside The Studio and Adolescence in the comedy and limited series fields. The casting <a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/tag\/emmys\/\" id=\"auto-tag_emmys\" data-tag=\"emmys\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Emmys<\/a> are considered a relatively reliable predictor of the top series winners.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tThe Pitt\u2018s<strong> <a data-id=\"1236531451\" data-type=\"post\" href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/2025\/09\/katherine-lansa-emmy-2025-supporting-actress-drama-the-pitt-1236531451\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Katherine LaNasa<\/a><\/strong> brought another surprise win tonight for Supporting Actress In a Drama Series. She took the Emmy for playing Charge Nurse Dana Evans on the medical drama in her first nomination, beating out four The White Lotus performers, led by Carrie Coon, who had been projected by many pundits to win. (In another surprise, White Lotus was shut out completely tonight.)<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tSimilarly, Severance\u2018s <a data-id=\"1236531757\" data-type=\"post\" href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/2025\/09\/britt-lower-severance-emmys-2025-1236531757\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/tag\/britt-lower\/\" id=\"auto-tag_britt-lower\" data-tag=\"britt-lower\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Britt Lower<\/a><\/strong><\/a> won for Lead Actress In a Drama Series. She won over Oscar winner <a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/tag\/kathy-bates\/\" id=\"auto-tag_kathy-bates\" data-tag=\"kathy-bates\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Kathy Bates<\/a>, a 14-time nominee and two-time Emmy winner who had been tipped to triumph for her title role on the CBS drama Matlock. <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tAdolescence\u2018s<a data-id=\"1236531368\" data-type=\"post\" href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/2025\/09\/stephen-graham-adolescence-emmy-limited-series-best-actor-1236531368\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> <strong>Stephen Graham<\/strong><\/a>, a three-time Emmy winner tonight, delivered a mild surprise in the Lead Actor in a Limited Series category.
