{"id":227890,"date":"2025-09-15T04:56:13","date_gmt":"2025-09-15T04:56:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/227890\/"},"modified":"2025-09-15T04:56:13","modified_gmt":"2025-09-15T04:56:13","slug":"san-antonio-public-library-celebrates-hispanic-heritage-month","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/227890\/","title":{"rendered":"San Antonio Public Library celebrates Hispanic Heritage Month"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The San Antonio Public Library celebrates Hispanic Heritage Month with kid-friendly, Latin American-inspired events.<\/p>\n<p>SAN ANTONIO \u2014 The San Antonio Public Library is commemorating Hispanic Heritage Month with multiple events planned for the next several weeks.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Almost everyday until October 18, one of the city&#8217;s libraries will host events, celebrations, and experiences that highlight Latin American cultures and influences.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Many of the events are free and kid-friendly with the library providing supplies, snacks and refreshments.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Some of the recurring events include <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mysapl.org\/Events-News\/Events-Calendar?trumbaEmbed=view%253Devent%2526eventid%253D187625891\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">the Zenith of Zeigarnik exhibit,<\/a> which is SAPL&#8217;s first augmented reality exhibit on display through October 15. In the exhibit, artist Miguel Rodriguez explores personal and geographic memory through reimagined drawings, 3-D modeling, sculpting, and volumetric photogrammetry. Many iconic environments of the Alamo City are included in the Zenith of Zeigarnik, including taquer\u00edas, hand-painted signs, and fallen structures.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Another continuous event is the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mysapl.org\/Events-News\/Events-Calendar?trumbaEmbed=view%253Devent%2526eventid%253D188315517\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">5-week Cumbia dance classes<\/a>, where participants will learn how to dance like a pro by the end of the sessions &#8211; according to SAPL. Organizers they are offering the classes as cumbia is a big part of social gatherings, festivals and celebrations in many Latin American countries.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>There&#8217;s also multiple movie showings that are ideal for families with screenings like &#8220;Nacho Libre,&#8221; &#8220;Coco&#8221; and &#8220;Encanto.&#8221;\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Some of the various events also highlight religious and culture significance like their <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mysapl.org\/Events-News\/Events-Calendar?trumbaEmbed=view%253Devent%2526eventid%253D189685441\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">DIY Shrine Box<\/a> event where people will create a shrine or nicho for an Ofrenda using recyclables and scrap materials.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Or, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mysapl.org\/Events-News\/Events-Calendar?trumbaEmbed=view%253Devent%2526eventid%253D189480516\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Hojalata: Mexican Folk Art<\/a>, which is a form of Mexican folk art that uses tin and other materials to create decorations and functional items.
