(KWQC\/CNN Newsource\/WKRC) &#8211; A new device created by research from Cornell University promises to keep geese away not by hurting them, but by scaring them. Meet the Goosinator.<\/p>\n<p>Many businesses and communities have expressed frustration with growing geese populations that congregate in public or private areas, scaring customers or leaving droppings.<\/p>\n<p>Eric Griffith, the Director of Parks and Recreation in the city of Moline, said that the birds were becoming a genuine problem.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Every seven years geese double their herd,&#8221; Griffith said. &#8220;After having conversations we thought that this was the best method to control the geese population.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>That method? A remote control device painted bright red with an intimidating face called the Goosinator.<\/p>\n<p>The device aims to dissuade geese from congregating in specific areas not by hurting them, but by scaring them away.<\/p>\n<p>The Goosinator is available for purchase on its <a href=\"https:\/\/www.goosinatorco.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" title=\"https:\/\/www.goosinatorco.com\/\" class=\"themeColorForLinks\" rel=\"noopener\">website<\/a>, along with decoys that will continue to scare geese after they learn to fear the device.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"MOLINE, Ill.
