The mother of an Everman boy missing since 2022 was returned to the United States<\/a> last month to face charges of murder in the boy\u2019s disappearance.<\/p>\n

The case first began gathering attention in March 2023<\/a>, when an Amber Alert was issued for Noel Alvarez and his mother, Cindy Rodriguez-Singh, is alleged to have fled the country with her husband and other children after investigators spoke with her about her missing son. <\/p>\n

Here\u2019s what to know about the case of Noel Alvarez, the Everman boy missing since October 2022 and believed to be dead.<\/p>\n

Who was Noel Alvarez?<\/p>\n

Noel Alvarez was a 6-year-old boy<\/a> who was reported missing by family members in March 2023. He has not been seen since 2022 and is believed to be dead.<\/p>\n

Noel was diagnosed with several illnesses, including speech delay, esotropia in both eyes and chronic lung disease, in addition to others.<\/p>\n

Relatives told police that Noel\u2019s mother, Cindy Rodriguez-Singh, abused him and referred to Noel as being evil and \u201cpossessed\u201d by a demon.<\/p>\n

Who is Cindy Rodriguez-Singh?<\/p>\n

Cindy Cecelia Rodriguez-Singh, 40, is Noel\u2019s mother. At the time of Noel\u2019s disappearance, Rodriguez-Singh was married to Arshdeep Singh and the couple\u2019s family included six other children. <\/p>\n

Rodriguez-Singh was arrested by authorities in August 2025 and was booked into the Tarrant County jail Aug. 21, records show. She had been considered a fugitive since she fled the country in March 2023; arrest warrants were obtained on charges of abandoning or endangering a child, and later, a murder warrant was obtained<\/a> for Rodriguez-Singh.<\/p>\n

What happened?<\/p>\n

Authorities do not know exactly what happened to Noel. Family members told police they had not seen Noel since late 2022, and Rodriguez-Singh told investigators that Noel had been living with his biological father in Mexico since November 2022.<\/p>\n

However, Noel\u2019s father told investigators he had been deported before Noel was born and had never met him. <\/p>\n

Rodriguez-Singh, her husband and their children boarded an international flight bound for India just days after Noel was reported missing. Noel was not with them.<\/p>\n

Noel\u2019s stepfather was also believed to have stolen $10,000 from his employer<\/a> less than 24 hours before the family fled the country.<\/p>\n

Noel was presumed dead<\/a> in April 2023, after authorities searched the family\u2019s home. This led investigators to believe there were once human remains inside a shed<\/a> on the property, although no trace of Noel was found.<\/p>\n

An indictment says Noel was killed on Oct. 25, 2022, and his body was left in an unknown location.<\/p>\n

In an effort to find Rodriguez-Singh, the FBI and Everman police offered a $25,000 reward last year<\/a> for information leading to her arrest. That reward was later bumped up to $250,000, and Rodriguez-Singh was added to the FBI\u2019s most wanted fugitives list<\/a>.<\/p>\n

She was captured earlier this year<\/a>, the FBI announced in August. The details of her capture were not immediately clear, though the FBI thanked its partners in India for coordinating. India and the United States have an extradition treaty with one another<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The status of Noel\u2019s stepfather and the couple\u2019s other children was also not made available.<\/p>\n

What\u2019s next in the case?<\/p>\n

After being returned to Tarrant County, Rodriguez-Singh was charged with capital murder of a person under the age of 10 and a federal charge of unlawful flight to avoid prosecution. She was later indicted<\/a> on additional charges, including two counts of abandoning or endangering a child and two counts of injury to a child.<\/p>\n

She is set to appear in Tarrant County\u2019s 372nd District Court at 8:30 a.m. Thursday. According to the court docket, the court appearance is for a consultation docket.<\/p>\n
