Keyon Byrd turned himself in on Friday \u2014 the same day the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office says it received a warrant for his arrest.<\/p>\n

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. \u2014 A 14-year-old is facing a murder charge after a fatal shooting on Jacksonville’s Westside earlier this week, police say.<\/a><\/p>\n

Just after 5 p.m. Wednesday, officers had responded to reports of a shooting at an apartment complex<\/a> on LaBelle Street. After arriving, police say they found 18-year-old Marlon Lane with multiple gunshot wounds.<\/p>\n

The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office (JSO) said Lane was taken to a hospital, where he later died from his injuries.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Keyon Byrd turned himself in on Friday \u2014 the same day JSO says it received a warrant for his arrest.<\/p>\n

The sheriff’s office wrote in a statement<\/a>:<\/p>\n

“Our detectives and officers will hold you accountable for violent acts, no matter how old you are. We\u2019ll continue to partner with the State Attorney\u2019s Office to bring justice to Lane\u2019s loved ones.<\/p>\n

We can\u2019t stress this enough: parents and family members, please get involved in your children\u2019s lives.”<\/p>\n
