CORAL GABLES \u2014 The Miami Hurricanes made sure to quash USF\u2019s national narrative on Saturday. Now they are getting their own national attention.<\/p>\n

Miami is hosting ESPN\u2019s \u201cCollege GameDay\u201d pregame show<\/a> for the first time since 2020 this weekend, bringing the national microscope to the\u00a0No. 4 Hurricanes<\/a>. ACC Network\u2019s pregame show, \u201cACC Huddle,\u201d is also going to UM this weekend.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt sure is an unbelievable opportunity for the university, the campus, the program to be showcased,\u201d Miami coach Mario Cristobal said on WQAM\u2019s \u201cThe Joe Rose Show\u201d on Monday morning.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s always an honor,\u201d Cristobal added at his weekly press conference Monday afternoon.<\/p>\n

After upending the Bulls\u2019 start to the season when the national focus was on them, Cristobal said this week is an opportunity to make sure his team can tune out outside noise.<\/p>\n

\u201cEven more importantly, it\u2019s an opportunity for us to do a great job not being distracted and keeping the main thing what it\u2019s supposed to be,\u201d Cristobal said. \u201cMaking sure that we all understand that, that everybody working together has granted us tremendous progress, and we\u2019re getting better and better, and now, as we take on what\u2019s the most talented opponent that we have faced, that we continue to elevate our processes and get better.\u201d<\/p>\n

Update on Lyle, Trader<\/p>\n

Cristobal said he expected running back Jordan Lyle and wide receiver Jojo Trader to return from injury in time for the Hurricanes\u2019 game against USF,<\/a> but both players sat out the game.<\/p>\n

However, Cristobal said both players should return this weekend against the Gators.<\/p>\n

\u201cJordan was ready at game time and because he hadn\u2019t taken as much work as we felt comfortable with, he didn\u2019t play,\u201d Cristobal said.<\/p>\n

On Trader, Cristobal said: \u201cJojo barely missed the cut to be ready. But he is ready to play this week and is full go.\u201d<\/p>\n

Miami has not missed a beat without the two contributing skill players. Mark Fletcher Jr. and Marty Brown have done well in the running game, and the Hurricanes have had several receivers step up in Trader\u2019s absence.<\/p>\n

\u201c(Lyle and Trader) were doing great; Jojo got dinged up in camp and then got dinged up again a little bit,\u201d Cristobal said. \u201cIt\u2019s a frustrating deal, but that\u2019s ball. We\u2019re fortunate to have guys that work their butts off at those respective positions. As you get closer and closer to game time, you want full-speed players. No one\u2019s going to be at 100 percent. Three games in, you\u2019re already nicked up all over the place. You make the best decision. Always, you keep player health and safety at the forefront. Once that\u2019s clear, OK, how effective can he be for the team?\u201d<\/p>\n

UF standout Banks out for Miami game<\/p>\n

One of the Gators\u2019 top players will be out for this week\u2019s game. Defensive tackle Caleb Banks is expected to miss a significant period of time, UF coach Billy Napier said Monday.<\/p>\n

Banks was a second-team All-SEC pick before the season after notching 21 tackles, seven tackles for loss and 4.5 sacks last season.
