Coronation Street<\/a> star Sally Carman has exclusively spoken to Inside Soap<\/a> about her character’s forbidden feelings for Carl Webster.<\/p>\n

Over at the Websters, where Kevin\u2019s undergoing cancer treatment<\/a> and Debbie\u2019s wrestling with her dementia diagnosis<\/a>, a different kind of tension simmers between Abi and Carl<\/a>. Ever since the pair\u2019s flirty clash in the supermarket car park, Carl\u2019s been sniffing round his sister-in-law, hoping she\u2019ll submit to his charms. And boy, is she tempted!<\/p>\n

Here, Sally reveals whether the mechanic\u2019s feelings for Carl are love or lust \u2013 and what advice she\u2019d give her conflicted character\u2026<\/p>\n

Hi Sally! Do you think Abi\u2019s feelings for Carl go deeper than just lust?<\/strong><\/p>\n

“<\/strong>It\u2019s difficult with Abi, because she\u2019s an addict, and I think she\u2019s aware of how she can get addicted to anything. She\u2019s really trying to do the right thing, despite wanting to throw herself at this man who\u2019s ignited those feelings of excitement and danger and making her feel alive. But she also knows what\u2019s at stake, which is real, solid, everyday love. It isn\u2019t particularly exciting, but with someone who means such a lot to her. Kevin, Jack and Alfie are her world. But this is just so delicious and exciting!”<\/p>\n

What is it about Carl that makes him so attractive?<\/strong><\/p>\n

“They had an instant spark that was totally just a physical thing. But the more she sees him with Debbie, it\u2019s given her a different perspective on him. She\u2019s seeing him as a more rounded person, as opposed to just the physical attraction.”<\/p>\n

Who do you think she\u2019s better suited to?<\/strong><\/p>\n

“<\/strong>She\u2019d be much better staying with Kevin, but Abi is Abi, and she\u2019ll dive straight into Carl.”<\/p>\n

Have you enjoyed playing the conflict of Abi being torn between them?<\/strong><\/p>\n

“Yeah, I love when Abi is behaving badly. Being an actor, that\u2019s what you want, the exciting bits and bobs. But it\u2019s been great. It\u2019s mostly been great because everyone that I get to work with is just absolutely brilliant. So we have a really good time. It\u2019s dead easy, it\u2019s really relaxed, and everyone\u2019s just so nice. It\u2019s the best job in the world and I know I say it all the time!”<\/p>\n
