{"id":230294,"date":"2025-09-16T02:52:21","date_gmt":"2025-09-16T02:52:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/230294\/"},"modified":"2025-09-16T02:52:21","modified_gmt":"2025-09-16T02:52:21","slug":"cool-pavement-program-works-to-keep-down-summer-temperatures","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/230294\/","title":{"rendered":"Cool pavement program works to keep down summer temperatures"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>SAN ANTONIO \u2014 The city has initiated a new program aimed at cooling down several neighborhoods by applying a special coating to the asphalt. <\/p>\n<p>Crews have begun spraying this coating on East Huff Street on the south side, identified as one of the city&#8217;s hottest neighborhoods according to a study by the University of Texas at San Antonio.<\/p>\n<p>This cool pavement initiative is a pilot program for Districts 2, 3, and 5, and will cover a total of 22 streets. The coating is expected to last up to four years. <\/p>\n<p>In addition to the pavement project, the city is also exploring other heat mitigation strategies, such as installing cooling roofs and planting more trees.<\/p>\n<p>City crews aim to complete the work in these three districts by October 22.
