A driver is facing accusations of intoxication manslaughter and intoxication assault after a fatal crash Sunday afternoon killed a woman and critically injured three others, police say.<\/p>\n
Fort Worth Police said officers were called to the 6000 block of Boat Club Road on Sunday for a major crash involving several vehicles.<\/p>\n
Officials said one person died at the scene; however, as of Monday afternoon, their identity has not been confirmed by the Tarrant County Medical Examiner\u2019s Office. <\/p>\n
While police told NBC 5 on Monday that no updates were available, online records show one person was arrested and charged with intoxicated manslaughter with a vehicle and intoxicated assault with a vehicle. The suspect\u2019s name has not been made public.<\/p>\n
Word of the crash has spread throughout nearby neighborhoods.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe’ve lost someone really important in our community, and we just need to honor her,\u201d a woman who preferred to remain anonymous told NBC 5.<\/p>\n
The woman parked her vehicle nearby and walked along Boat Club Road to place a dozen pink roses for the victim.<\/p>\n
Police have not clarified what vehicle the three people in critical condition were traveling in at the time of the crash.<\/p>\n
\u201cMy heart goes out to the family that’s going through this tragedy. Unfortunately, I can relate to what they’re going through,\u201d Daquirie Thanphirom said.<\/p>\n
Thanphirom\u2019s little brother, Solomon Sanchez, died earlier this year.<\/p>\n
\u201cMy brother died this year, Feb. 3, 2025. He was on his way to my home after a basketball game with friends to pick up dinner,\u201d she said. \u201cMy brother wasn’t only hit by a wrong\u2011way driver, he was hit from behind his wall, so he was hit twice, and he died from blunt force injuries. And he died on a patch of grass just up the road… The woman who was on the wrong side of the road they determined that it was an accident. She broke the median.\u201d<\/p>\n
She drove to the scene of the crash early afternoon on Monday to pray and offer support.<\/p>\n
\u201cI just pray for strength for them and that things will change. We need change,\u201d Thanphirom said.<\/p>\n
She aims to spread awareness about road safety along Boat Club Road.<\/p>\n
\u201cI think lighting is so crucial from Boat Club Road from Shadydell Drive all the way down. It’s dark, there’s curves, the speed limit’s 50 mph, and with built\u2011in medians now, how are you able to see something?\u201d Thanphirom said.<\/p>\n
NBC 5 reached out to Councilmember for District 7, Macy Hill, for comment on road safety in the area.
