The former prison-turned-national historic landmark has announced an engaging lineup of\u00a0fall 2025 programming\u00a0that blends history, art, culture, and social justice with opportunities for meaningful reflection and conversation. Whether you come for inspiring talks, interactive tours, or its famous haunted attractions, there\u2019s something for everyone this autumn.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis fall\u2019s programming connects Eastern State\u2019s history to the issues that matter most today, while also inviting our community to learn, reflect, and engage together,\u201d said Dr. Kerry Sautner, President and CEO of Eastern State.<\/p>\n<p>Democracy for All Week<\/p>\n<p>The season kicks off September 17\u201321 with\u00a0Democracy for All: Freedom of Expression Week, marking Constitution Day with programs on the power\u2014and limits\u2014of free expression behind bars. Guests can participate in fireside chats, art-making sessions, and guided discussions exploring how creativity and journalism have preserved dignity within prisons.<\/p>\n<p>Justice 101 Returns<\/p>\n<p>Also on September 17, the\u00a0Justice 101 series\u00a0launches its 2025\u20132026 season with\u00a0Freedom Behind Bars: The First Amendment and Incarceration in America.\u00a0This virtual program runs from 12:00\u20131:00 p.m. and offers expert perspectives and community dialogue on pressing issues in the justice system.<\/p>\n<p>Special Tours and Art Programs<\/p>\n<p>On September 19, visitors can join a special\u00a0Guide-Led Tour &amp; Artist Program\u00a0with Mark Loughney, who will discuss art and incarceration before hosting a live portrait session in the prison\u2019s cellblocks.<\/p>\n<p>Halloween Nights at Eastern State<\/p>\n<p>Starting September 19 through November 8, Eastern State\u2019s signature\u00a0Halloween Nights festival\u00a0returns.
