HOUSTON<\/strong> \u2013 An alarming sight for many people around the Houston area, with military helicopters flying low at all hours of the day.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s related to training between the Department of Defense \u2014 or Department of War<\/a> \u2014and the Houston Police Department<\/a>. <\/p>\n

PREVIOUS:<\/b> Defense Department, local law enforcement agencies conducting training in Houston through Sept. 19<\/a><\/p>\n

Near Aldine ISD\u2019s<\/a> Smith Elementary, which closed earlier this year<\/a>, people are asking, \u201cWhat\u2019s going on?!\u201d but HPD says this is \u201cvery common.\u201d<\/p>\n

From Spring Branch<\/a> to SE Houston and Clear Lake<\/a> to Midtown<\/a> and Downtown<\/a>, a lot of people have posted videos on social media of military helicopters flying low to the ground. <\/p>\n

Aldine ISD released a statement saying they\u2019re using Smith Elementary School for the exercises.<\/p>\n

Amanda Anderson sent us this video to our 2 Helps You<\/a> at about 10 last night. She says multiple helicopters flew over her home. First, there were three helicopters\u2014 with green and red lights, and it rattled her windows!<\/p>\n

Minutes later, she says 4 more helicopters flew over, asking, \u201cWhat are they doing? Who are they?\u201d<\/p>\n

The Houston Police Department posted this to \u201cX\u201d earlier this month, which reads:<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Department of Defense, in coordination with the Houston Police Department and other local and federal law enforcement agencies, is conducting training in the City of Houston through September 19. Residents may hear noise or see helicopters in the day and evening hours during the exercises. This type of collaborative training between local, state, and federal partners is very common as we continue to work to provide the best service to the public.\u201d<\/p>\n

We are reaching out to HPD, hoping to get more information about the training. The training is ongoing through Sept. 19.<\/p>\n
