(Photo by: Photographer name\/Education Images\/Universal Images Group via Getty Images) <\/p>\n<p data-v-6fc2855c=\"\"><strong>NEW YORK<\/strong> &#8211; New York is known as a home of some of the nation&#8217;s most prestigious universities, and a new report has organized the best of the best into a list of the state&#8217;s 2026 top-rated colleges.<\/p>\n<p>   The ranking&#8217;s factors <\/p>\n<p original-article-post=\"\" origination_station=\"WNYW\" data-v-ec26887a=\"\" data-v-6fc2855c=\"\">Behind The Numbers:<\/p>\n<p data-v-6fc2855c=\"\">According to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.niche.com\/colleges\/search\/best-colleges\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">a study from Niche<\/a>, Columbia and Cornell have been ranked as the two best colleges in the state, with several other top schools also making the list.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p data-v-6fc2855c=\"\">The rankings were based on a wide variety of factors, including tuition, student-to-faculty ratio, graduation rate and acceptance rate. Another major factor considered in a school&#8217;s overall appeal is location.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p data-v-6fc2855c=\"\">The National Association for College Admission Counseling (NACAC) has revealed that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nacacnet.org\/selectivity-acceptance-rates-at-4-year-colleges\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">college acceptance rates<\/a> have seen a slight increase in recent years. In fall 2022, the average acceptance rate for four-year, not-for-profit colleges was 73%, up from 68% in fall 2019.
