Those were the words of Simpson women’s basketball head coach Brian Niemuth stated on his social media post, announcing that Haley Rasmussen has joined the coaching staff for her alma mater, the Storm.<\/p>\n
Rasmussen had an outstanding high school career at Atlantic, scoring a then-record 1,257 career points and being named all-state on multiple occasions. She was a key in the Trojans going from also-rans to a program that is consistently successful both during the regular season and in the post-season.<\/p>\n
At Simpson, she was the NCAA Division III leader in three-point shots made, with 51.7% That was the best single-season mark in Simpson history, and across all NCAA divisions men’s and women’s. That helped the Storm finish with a program-best 40.2% three-point shooting percentage.<\/p>\n
Rasmussen \u2013 she sank 75 threes during her senior year (2024-2025) \u2013 joined the elite company at Simpson, becoming the third player in school history to lead the nation in three-point percentage, alongside Jenna Taylor (2019) and Amy Hamilton (2009).<\/p>\n
In addition to her outstanding accomplishments, she finished her senior season as the team\u2019s Most Valuable Player and first-team all-American Rivers Conference for the second time. She received the Barborka award from Simpson College, the highest award for all Simpson College athletes.<\/p>\n
