{"id":23193,"date":"2025-06-29T00:48:26","date_gmt":"2025-06-29T00:48:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/23193\/"},"modified":"2025-06-29T00:48:26","modified_gmt":"2025-06-29T00:48:26","slug":"san-antonio-spurs-introduce-2025-nba-draft-selections-dylan-harper-and-carter-bryant","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/23193\/","title":{"rendered":"San Antonio Spurs introduce 2025 NBA Draft selections, Dylan Harper and Carter Bryant"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\"><strong>SAN ANTONIO<\/strong> \u2013 The San Antonio Spurs held a press conference Saturday at the Rock at La Cantera to introduce the team\u2019s selections in the 2025 NBA Draft. <\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">The Spurs chose Dylan Harper from Rutgers University with the No. 2 overall pick and Carter Bryant from the University of Arizona at No. 14 in the first round. <\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">Harper will wear No. 2 for the Silver and Black, while Bryant will sport No. 11. <\/p>\n<p>Carter Bryant addresses the media<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">Bryant reflected on the Spurs\u2019 rich history of success. He discussed the franchise\u2019s championship banners and how that legacy might influence his career. <\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">\u201cI think for me, it\u2019s just another motivator,\u201d said Bryant. <\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">Bryant explained that seeing those banners serves as a reminder of the high standards he needs to meet. He said that he has always been self-driven with big dreams and the Spurs\u2019 history adds an extra layer of inspiration to his goals.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">The 6 feet, 8 inch forward also shared the whirlwind of emotions he\u2019s had since being drafted. <\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">\u201cThere\u2019s a lot of emotions going on. I\u2019m thankful; I\u2019m grateful. I\u2019m just ready to get to work,\u201d Bryant said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">Bryant said the reality of being an NBA player hasn\u2019t fully sunk in yet. He described moments before sleep when it hits him that he is officially a Spur, highlighting how surreal the experience has been. <\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">Bryant also discussed the Spurs\u2019 legacy, mentioning greats such as Tony Parker, Manu Ginobili, and David Robinson. <\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">\u201cI just loved basketball growing up, so I mean everybody knew who Tony Parker and Manu and David Robinson and all these guys were,\u201d Bryant said. <\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">He sees the Spurs\u2019 dynasty as a path that shaped his childhood and fueled his passion for the game.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">When asked about representing Latinos in the NBA, Bryant acknowledged the importance of his role. <\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">\u201cIt means everything. I think for me, I was just trying to represent everything as well as I can, whether that\u2019s the Latino community, the deaf community, Riverside, California, whatever the case may be, along with the African American community as well,\u201d said Bryant. <\/p>\n<p>Dylan Harper takes the podium<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">The No. 2 overall pick, Harper, then took the stage and was asked about his emotions after seeing the Spurs\u2019 banners at the Rock at La Cantera. <\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">\u201cI mean, first of all, I\u2019m just grateful to be in this position with such a great organization,\u201d Harper said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">He explained that growing up, the Spurs were one of the teams he always dreamed of playing for. Harper stated that the team\u2019s dynasty and championship banners motivates him to contribute to building on that legacy.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">Harper outlined his goals for his NBA debut, emphasizing his competitive mindset. <\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">\u201cFirst, I want to win every game we play,\u201d he said. <\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">Harper described the summer league as an opportunity to get his feet wet and showcase his best self. He stressed that his mentality is to do whatever it takes to help the team win.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">He also spoke about the Spurs\u2019 culture, which he described as a family atmosphere built on loyalty and mutual respect. <\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">\u201cLike, yesterday, I\u2019m just working out and I randomly see Tim Duncan, Greg Popovich and Manu Ginobili,\u201d Harper said. \u201cLike, that\u2019s not something you\u2019ll see in any other organization.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">When asked about the pressure to continue the success of recent Spurs rookies, Harper said, \u201cI mean, I don\u2019t think I feel no pressure, but I definitely want to keep that going.\u201d <\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">He acknowledged the achievements of Stephon Castle and Victor Wembanyama, the last two Rookie of the Year award winners. Harper\u2019s said his focus, however, is on daily improvement and learning from those around him.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">Harper also shared advice from Spurs head coach Mitch Johnson, who encouraged him to \u201cdefinitely just be yourself.\u201d Harper told the media that Johnson said they picked him for a reason and that staying true to himself is key to his success. <\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">Harper also addressed the Spurs\u2019 six-season playoff drought with confidence. <\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">\u201cThat\u2019s going to change really quick,\u201d Harper said. \u201cThat\u2019s going to change quick.
