There, a full statement was released that explained Simon \u201cregretfully\u201d had to cancel the shows and was set to undergo a \u201cminor surgical procedure\u201d in the coming days.<\/p>\n More from The Hollywood Reporter<\/strong><\/p>\n \u201cRegretfully, Paul Simon must cancel two shows tonight June 28 and tomorrow night June 29 \u2013 at Philadelphia\u2019s Academy of Music,\u201d the statement read. \u201cPaul has been struggling with chronic and intense back pain. Today it became unmanageable and demands immediate attention.\u201d<\/p>\n The statement, too, noted that it\u2019s uncertain if Simon will be able to reschedule Saturday and Sunday\u2019s performances. However, the post indicated that the Grammy winner hopes to make up the canceled Philadelphia shows and complete the rest of his A Quiet Celebration Tour that kicked off in early April.<\/p>\n \u201cUnfortunately we have to cancel these shows at this time, as we don\u2019t have the ability to reschedule them,\u201d the post read. \u201cHowever, we are hopeful after this minor surgical procedure which has been scheduled in the next few days, Paul will be able to complete the tour as well as look into returning to make up these dates.\u201d<\/p>\n At the end of the statement, it was noted that ticket holders for Saturday and Sunday\u2019s shows will receive full refunds. \u201cIn the meantime please go to your point of purchase or local ticker provider for a full refund,\u201d the post concluded.<\/p>\n Simon was set to make three appearances at Philadelphia\u2019s Academy of Music.
