UPDATE (7:15 P.M.) | The Office of the President at Texas State University has released a public statement, saying that the student has been identified and no longer attends Texas State.<\/p>\n
The statement reads:<\/p>\n
The university has identified the student in the disturbing video from Monday’s event. I will not tolerate behavior that mocks, trivializes, or promotes violence on our campuses. It is antithetical to our TXST values. The individual is no longer a student at TXST. Federal law prevents the university from commenting further on individual student conduct matters.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

SAN ANTONIO – A Texas official has called for swift action on a student after they allegedly insulted the death of Charlie Kirk.<\/p>\n
On Tuesday, Gov. Abbott took to X (formerly Twitter), responding to a video allegedly showing a Texas State University student imitating and mocking the death of the Turning Point USA founder.<\/p>\n
“Mocking assassination must have consequences,” said Abbott in the statement on X.<\/p>\n
Texas State University (TXST) has since responded to the calls for action, saying that they will be taking action to identify and discipline the student.<\/p>\n
“I am aware of the disturbing video that was taken at an event on our San Marcos campus on Monday,” said Dr. Kelly Damphousse, TXST President. “Behavior that trivializes or promotes violence is reprehensible and violates the values of TXST.”<\/p>\n
