With an economy that continues to prosper, Fort Worth was just ranked among the top five best large American cities for economic growth in 2025.<\/p>\n

CoworkingCafe’s study<\/a>, “Rising Powerhouses: The Cities Making America\u2019s Economic Future,” compared economic data across 269 U.S. cities from 2019-2023. Cities were then sorted into three categories: Large cities with populations greater than 500,000 residents; midsize cities with populations between 250,000-500,000 residents; and small cities with fewer than 250,000 residents.<\/p>\n

Austin soared to the No. 1 spot among the biggest U.S. cities in 2025 after ranking No. 5 in last year’s report<\/a>. <\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Fort Worth slipped from the No. 2 spot in 2024<\/a> to No. 5 in 2025.<\/p>\n

According to CoworkingCafe, Fort Worth distinguished itself based on its 40 percent growth in exports and a 36 percent increase in the city’s GDP.<\/p>\n

“Fort Worth combines workforce development with trade expansion \u2014 a strategic mix for ongoing prosperity,” the report’s author wrote. “Furthermore, universities like Texas A&M and TCU are expanding downtown campuses, adding research and innovation hubs that elevate the city\u2019s human capital.”<\/p>\n

Fort Worth’s flourishing economy is further spurred by a 25 percent hike in residents’ median income over the last five years, and a 58 percent increase in new business applications.<\/p>\n

Elsewhere in Dallas-Fort Worth
<\/strong>Dallas<\/strong> ranked farther behind Fort Worth as the 15th best large economic boomtown in the U.S. <\/p>\n

Three DFW suburbs – Irving<\/strong>, Plano<\/strong>, and Arlington<\/strong> – respectively ranked 15th, 24th, and 27th in CoworkingCafe’s list of the best midsize cities for economic growth.<\/p>\n

Out of the 188 U.S. cities that were analyzed in the small city ranking, five Dallas-Fort Worth cities earned spots among the top 50: Lewisville<\/strong> (No. 11), Denton<\/strong> (No. 23), McKinney<\/strong> (No. 29), Frisco<\/strong> (No. 32), and Mesquite<\/strong> (No. 46).<\/p>\n

Other economic boomtowns in Texas
<\/strong>Farther down the national list of the best large economic boomtowns are Houston (No. 13), El Paso (No. 14), and San Antonio (No. 21).<\/p>\n

In the midsize city category, three more Texas cities made the cut: Lubbock (No. 19), Laredo (No. 21), and Corpus Christi (No. 23).<\/p>\n

The six remaining small Texas cities that earned spots among the top 50 were Round Rock (No. 14), Abilene (No. 18), Waco (No. 19), Brownsville (No. 31), Wichita Falls (No. 34), and League City (No. 45).<\/p>\n
