{"id":234655,"date":"2025-09-17T20:24:16","date_gmt":"2025-09-17T20:24:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/234655\/"},"modified":"2025-09-17T20:24:16","modified_gmt":"2025-09-17T20:24:16","slug":"phoenix-monsoon-storm-activity-expected-to-pick-up-this-week","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/234655\/","title":{"rendered":"Phoenix monsoon storm activity expected to pick up this week"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>PHOENIX \u2014 The Valley could see at least one more stretch of monsoon storm activity before Arizona\u2019s annual rainy season concludes in two weeks.<\/p>\n<p>The remnants of former Tropical Storm Mario are expected to create cloud coverage and a surge of moisture across the Phoenix area in the coming days.<\/p>\n<p>Thunderstorms could develop as soon as Wednesday night, but the chances are greater on Thursday and Friday.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOver the weekend, things will start to dry out,\u201d Mark O\u2019Malley, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Phoenix, told KTAR News 92.3 FM on Wednesday morning.<\/p>\n<p>How will monsoon storms affect metro Phoenix temperatures<\/p>\n<p>Along with the potential for rain, the Valley monsoon storm activity is expected to bring temporary relief from triple-digit temperatures, with <a href=\"https:\/\/ktar.com\/weather-center\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">forecast highs<\/a> in the upper 90s Thursday and Friday.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt won\u2019t cool down a lot at night, with overnight lows generally in the upper 70s to middle 80s,\u201d O\u2019Malley said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBy next week, we will start to see significant warming across the area and high temperatures through the \u2026 middle of next week will be up between 105 and 110 degrees, which is quite warm for this time of the year.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>When does Phoenix monsoon season end?<\/p>\n<p>Arizona\u2019s annual monsoon season runs from June 15 to Sept. 30.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s been one of the drier monsoon seasons in Phoenix, with a total of just 0.68 inches recorded at Sky Harbor International Airport, which the NWS uses for the city\u2019s official records.<\/p>\n<p>If it doesn\u2019t rain again at the airport before October starts, 2025 will go down as Phoenix\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.weather.gov\/twc\/Monsoon#precip-chart\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">seventh driest monsoon season<\/a> on record.<\/p>\n<p>Normal Phoenix rainfall at this point of the Phoenix monsoon season is 2.2 inches.<\/p>\n<p><a class=\"twitter-follow-button\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/kstonezone\" data-show-count=\"false\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">Follow @kstonezone<\/a><\/p>\n<p>We want to hear from you.<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-top: 0px;\">Have a story idea or tip?
