{"id":235646,"date":"2025-09-18T05:45:27","date_gmt":"2025-09-18T05:45:27","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/235646\/"},"modified":"2025-09-18T05:45:27","modified_gmt":"2025-09-18T05:45:27","slug":"nyc-electrician-pleads-guilty-to-killing-his-mother-after-claiming-she-tried-to-commit-suicide-report","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/235646\/","title":{"rendered":"NYC electrician pleads guilty to killing his mother &#8212; after claiming she tried to commit suicide: report"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A Staten Island electrician on Monday finally admitted he killed his elderly mother \u2014 after trying to convince authorities he put her out of her misery amid a botched suicide attempt, according to reports.<\/p>\n<p>Carl Sutera, 60, pleaded guilty to first-degree manslaughter in the strangulation death of his doting mom Rosalie Sutera, court records show.<\/p>\n<p>The plea caps a bizarre and tragic case that began when the 80-year-old great-grandmother was found <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2024\/01\/27\/metro\/nyc-man-charged-with-strangling-82-year-old-mom\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">dead in her home in January 2024<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><img style=\"aspect-ratio:0.74121094;display:block\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" data-modal-image=\"37142451\" width=\"437\" height=\"590\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/rosalie-sutera-s-son-charged-111617583.jpg\" alt=\"Rosalie Sutera\" class=\"wp-image-37142451\"  \/>Staten Island man Carl Sutera pleaded guilty to murdering his mother Rosalie Sutera (pictured) in January.<\/p>\n<p>Sutera originally told cops he believed his mother hit herself on an end table and, suspiciously, said the family \u201cwouldn\u2019t want an autopsy,\u201d the Staten Island Advance <a href=\"https:\/\/www.silive.com\/crime-safety\/2024\/02\/court-filings-detail-statements-man-accused-of-killing-staten-island-mom-82-allegedly-made-to-police-it-did-not-take-long.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">first reported<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>But Sutera\u2019s tale changed after NYPD officers arrested him days later on suspicions that he murdered his mother, the paper reported.<\/p>\n<p>The hulking Sutera claimed he found her unconscious with the belt of her robe wrapped around her neck, according to the report.<\/p>\n<p>Believing Rosalie Sutera tried to kill herself, her son told police he \u201chelped her from suffering,\u201d the report states, citing court documents.<\/p>\n<p><img style=\"aspect-ratio:0.84863281;display:block\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" data-modal-image=\"37142452\" width=\"501\" height=\"590\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/rosalie-sutera-pictured-late-husband-111617584.jpg\" alt=\"Rosalie pictured with her late husband Carl.\" class=\"wp-image-37142452\"  \/>Rosalie pictured with her late husband Carl.
