Stanford Medicine<\/a> has again been recognized among the top institutions for patient care by\u00a0Vizient<\/a>, a national health care performance improvement organization.<\/p>\n

For the third time in its history, Stanford Health Care was a five-star performer in the Vizient Quality and Accountability Study for comprehensive academic medical centers, ranking\u00a0fifth out of 118\u00a0peer institutions for inpatient care.<\/p>\n

This year, the study \u2014 conducted annually since 2005 \u2014 included 1,220 hospitals segmented into seven cohorts based on hospital size, services, and operational characteristics. It measured performance on the quality of patient care in six domains: safety, mortality, effectiveness, efficiency, patient centeredness and variation in care.<\/p>\n

Stanford Health Care also performed strongly in outpatient, also known as ambulatory, care, ranking sixth out of 66 in its cohort. The ambulatory care ranking is based on five key domains: access to care, efficiency, quality, continuum of care and equity.<\/p>\n

In addition, the organization received\u00a0top\u00a0performer honors in\u00a0Vizient\u2019s\u00a0Environmental Sustainability Excellence category for the first time \u2014 an award recognizing responsible purchasing decisions and a commitment to carbon emission reduction and climate resilience.<\/p>\n

Stanford Health Care Tri-Valley<\/a> was also recognized as a five-star in-patient performer among complex care medical centers for the second straight year, ranking 17th in a cohort of 208 complex care medical centers.<\/p>\n
