SALTMARSH SPARROW SPOTTED IN WMP<\/strong>
S. sent a note: the birding community was very excited to see that a salt marsh sparrow \u2014 an endangered species \u2014 was spotted in Washington Market Park. (That\u2019s her picture of birders descending on the park.) The Guardian<\/a> has even made a documentary about one Rhode Island woman\u2019s fight to preserve the species, which is facing extinction before 2050 due to elevated high tides.<\/p>\n

TRIBECA ALLIANCE MEET & GREET<\/strong>
The newly reformed Tribeca Alliance<\/a> will host a meet & greet for local merchants and the general public on Thursday, Sept. 18, 6:30p, at Laughing Man, 184 Duane.<\/p>\n

LUNCH BOX FALL FOOD FAIR<\/strong>
The Downtown Alliance will host its annual restaurant food fair on Tuesday, October 7, from 11:30 till 2:30, at Fosun Plaza, 28 Liberty at Pine and William. The event is free to enter, but the lunches are offered at $10 each from restaurants around Fidi. More info here.<\/a><\/p>\n

LOOKING BACK AT THE 9\/11 MEMORIAL COMPETITION<\/strong>
The 9\/11 Museum will host a seminar called \u201cDesigning Memory: A Look Back at the 9\/11 Memorial Competition\u201d on Thursday, September 25, from 5 to 6p. In January 2004, after an international competition that drew over 5,000 submissions from 63 countries, a final design for the 9\/11 Memorial was chosen by a jury of 13 members. Introduced by CEO of Bloomberg Philanthropies Patricia E. Harris this program brings together two jury members \u2014 9\/11 family member Paula Berry and historian James E. Young \u2014 to share the principles that guided their decision-making. Free tickets here.<\/a><\/p>\n
