POST. Nine of 10 conference games will be played at MSG. The two years before coach Rick Pitino\u2019s arrival, St. John\u2019s played just nine total games at the Garden. In the current agreement, St. John\u2019s \u201crents out the Garden.\u201d The school has to \u201cdraw roughly 7,000-8,000 fans to begin to make a profit.\u201d It did not \u201cmake sense from a financial standpoint then to play any more games at the Garden,\u201d because the program was \u201cincapable of drawing large enough crowds.\u201d In the nine games at MSG, they \u201caveraged just under 17,000 fans.\u201d They can make \u201cup to four times as much of a profit by selling out the Garden\u201d compared to Carnesecca Arena, \u201csignificant in the revenue-sharing era.\u201d Now, the team has already \u201csold roughly 8,500 season ticket Garden packages\u201d despite a 30% \u201cincrease in prices.\u201d Add in the students, and \u201cthe entire lower bowl will be sold out for the 13 contests.\u201d The \u201ctwo sides are talking about a new arrangement\u201d that would create \u201ceven more of a partnership.\u201d Among the potential benefits are \u201cincreasing the placement of St. John\u2019s merchandise and apparel at Garden events, marketing and advertisement of the program and offering support in ticket sales and the game day experience for fans similar to Rangers and Knicks games\u201d (<a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2025\/09\/17\/sports\/st-johns-msg-partnership-entering-once-unfathomable-territory\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2025\/09\/17\/sports\/st-johns-msg-partnership-entering-once-unfathomable-territory\/\">N.Y.
