Leo High School choir shares excitement ahead of “America’s Got Talent” finals<\/p>\n

After 24 hours of waiting, the boys of the Leo High School choir will be making their way to the finals of “America’s Got Talent.”<\/p>\n

The choir won America’s vote Wednesday night\u2014taking the last spot in the finals. <\/p>\n

On Tuesday night, the group sang Fall Out Boy’s “Centuries” on stage<\/a>\u00a0with fiery effects. They got praised by the judges, including Simon Cowell, who pleaded with viewers to vote for them to compete in the finals. \u00a0<\/p>\n

Some group members joined CBS News Chicago on Thursday morning to reflect on their life-changing night.\u00a0<\/p>\n

“When our name got called, we were all in awe because we were really not expecting to move on,” a group members said.\u00a0 \u00a0<\/p>\n

The choir has been on a run this season of the competitive talent show\u2014gaining support from their school and community. The Chicago community has been cheering on the group since the start, even calling them a “shining light.”\u00a0<\/p>\n

“The fact that people from my hometown look up to me is a very exciting feeling,” a group member said.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The boys will compete in the finals that will air on Sept. 23. While they cannot share all the details, they said their final performance will be “the biggest performance that you would ever see on live TV.”\u00a0<\/p>\n

The winner of “America’s Got Talent” gets $1 million. If the choir goes the distance, the boys said they’d use that money to pay for college.”<\/p>\n
