{"id":236919,"date":"2025-09-18T17:59:09","date_gmt":"2025-09-18T17:59:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/236919\/"},"modified":"2025-09-18T17:59:09","modified_gmt":"2025-09-18T17:59:09","slug":"doj-investigates-austin-for-discriminatory-employment-policies","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/236919\/","title":{"rendered":"DOJ investigates Austin for discriminatory employment policies"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The U.S. Department of Justice is investigating the city of Austin to see if it engaged in discriminatory employment practices based on race, sex, color and national origin. <\/p>\n<p>Discrimination based on these characteristics is a violation of Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1965.<\/p>\n<p>The Justice Department\u2019s Civil Rights Division announced the investigation on Thursday and said it will focus on the city&#8217;s Office of Equity and Inclusion, Equity Division. The department aims to &#8220;work across all City departments &#8230; to build capacity and leadership using a racial equity lens,&#8221; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.austintexas.gov\/department\/equity-division\" class=\"Link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">according to its website.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Assistant Attorney General Harmeet K.
