Former women\u2019s tennis star Martina Navratilova fired off a series of social media posts on Wednesday, seemingly in response to news that Disney pulled talk show host Jimmy Kimmel\u00a0off the air<\/a>\u00a0after he made controversial comments about Charlie Kirk\u2019s assassination<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Navratilova is\u00a0known as\u00a0a highly outspoken liberal as a former athlete. She expressed objection<\/a> to Disney\u2019s removal of Kimmel from his show in a series of X posts<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Navratilova also re-shared a handful of X posts referencing the situation involving Kimmel.\u00a0<\/p>\n

On Monday, Kimmel accused conservatives of reaching \u201cnew lows\u201d in trying to pin a left-wing ideology on 22-year-old suspect Tyler Robinson, even though prosecutors reaffirmed those ties in Tuesday\u2019s indictment.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe hit some new lows over the weekend with the MAGA gang desperately trying to characterize this kid who murdered Charlie Kirk as anything other than one of them and doing everything they can to score political points from it,\u201d Kimmel said<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Kimmel\u2019s comments came one day after both FBI officials and Utah Gov. Spencer Cox said that Robinson\u00a0held a \u201cleftist ideology\u201d\u00a0and was increasingly radicalized in recent years. It was also revealed that he had a romantic relationship with a transgender partner who was biologically male and transitioning to female.<\/p>\n

Federal Communications Commission (FCC) Chairman Brendan Carr then issued a threat against Disney if it didn\u2019t address the controversy.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Appearing on Wednesday\u2019s \u201cThe Benny Show,\u201d Carr called Kimmel\u2019s comments<\/a> \u201csome of the sickest conduct\u201d and suggested there were potential \u201cavenues\u201d the FCC could pursue.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cIn some quarters, there\u2019s a very concerted effort to try to lie to the American people about the nature \u2026 of one of the most significant newsworthy public interest acts that we\u2019ve seen in a long time in what appears to be an action by Jimmy Kimmel to play into that narrative that this was somehow a MAGA or a Republican-motivated person,\u201d Carr told host Benny Johnson.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Nexstar Media Group, which owns hundreds of television stations, announced earlier it would preempt Kimmel\u2019s show on its ABC affiliates starting Wednesday night \u201cfor the foreseeable future\u201d and would replace it with other programming over his comments about alleged Charlie Kirk assassin Tyler Robinson.<\/p>\n

News of Kimmel\u2019s removal from air was then confirmed by Disney later on Wednesday night.<\/p>\n

\u201cJimmy Kimmel Live will be pre-empted indefinitely,\u201d a Disney spokesperson confirmed to\u00a0Fox News Digital.<\/p>\n
