New York City is seeing a boost in COVID-19-related illnesses and even one death in the last week, according to the NYC Department of Health.<\/p>\n
On Thursday, there was a major development in the Tri-State meant to calm many people’s fears when it comes to vaccines and viruses.<\/p>\n
Several states, including New York, New Jersey and Connecticut, are coming together to form the ‘Northeast Public Health Collaborative.’<\/p>\n
The voluntary group says it will promote and protect evidence-based public health.<\/p>\n
New York Governor Kathy Hochul is providing guidance when it comes to who should get the shot.<\/p>\n
The state’s latest recommendation is that children 6 months to 18 years old, adults and individuals at high risk, including those who are pregnant, lactating or immunocompromised.<\/p>\n
Dr. Eric Ascher is a family medicine physician at Lenox Hill and says right now he’s seeing an uptick in COVID positives in his office.<\/p>\n
He says now is the time to get vaccinated as we head into the colder months, when we typically see a surge in the virus.<\/p>\n
According to The New York City Department of Health over the past week, it’s seen an average of 398 cases of COVID in the 5 boroughs each day, 7 hospitalizations and one death.<\/p>\n
