Their previous venture, a sports and concert seat upgrade app, had been acquired by <strong>Cox Enterprises<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-1090901\">The trio\u2019s first prototype consisted of an Android phone camera stuffed into a waterproof box. The crude device could photograph passing vehicles and extract license plate numbers through a basic app. Despite its simplicity, the concept proved revolutionary.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-1090901\">\u201cThat took some time to figure out,\u201d <strong>Ilya Sukhar<\/strong>, early investor in Flock Safety, a partner at the venture capital company Matrix and also on Flock Safety&#8217;s board, told Forbes.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-1090901\">By 2020, the team had improved on their vision, which meant solar-powered, weatherproof cameras that could capture license plates and vehicle details around the clock, transmitting data instantly to Amazon (NASDAQ:<a class=\"link \" href=\"http:\/\/finance.yahoo.com\/q?s=AMZN\" data-ylk=\"slk:AMZN;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">AMZN<\/a>) cloud servers for analysis.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-1090901\"><strong>Trending: \u2018Scrolling To UBI&#8217; \u2014 Deloitte&#8217;s #1 fastest-growing software company allows users to earn money on their phones. According to Forbes, the Dunwoody Police Department in Georgia pays approximately $500,000 annually for its array of 105 cameras, gunshot detectors, drones, and accompanying software.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-1090901\">Langley told Forbes he wants to build Flock Safety into a $100 billion enterprise. Revenue jumped approximately 70% from an estimated $175 million in 2023, supported by a $275 million March funding round led by <strong>Andreessen Horowitz<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p> Story Continues  <\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-1090901\">\u201cIt\u2019s very within reach,\u201d Langley said about the massive valuation target, noting the company landed on Forbes\u2019 2025 Cloud 100 list of top private cloud computing firms.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-1090901\">Beyond law enforcement, Flock Safety serves 1,000 corporate clients, including FedEx (NYSE:<a class=\"link \" href=\"http:\/\/finance.yahoo.com\/q?s=FDX\" data-ylk=\"slk:FDX;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">FDX<\/a>), Lowe\u2019s (NYSE:<a class=\"link \" href=\"http:\/\/finance.yahoo.com\/q?s=LOW\" data-ylk=\"slk:LOW;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">LOW<\/a>), and Simon Property (NYSE:<a class=\"link \" href=\"http:\/\/finance.yahoo.com\/q?s=SPG\" data-ylk=\"slk:SPG;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">SPG<\/a>), America\u2019s largest mall owner. Housing associations, schools, and organizations like the Jewish Federation of Greater Atlanta have deployed 64 cameras across properties following recent antisemitic threats.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-1090901\">Privacy advocates remain deeply concerned about Flock Safety\u2019s rapid expansion, Forbes reported.
